Check costs and scholarships

Check your course details to see the fees for your course. International student fees only cover tuition.

Your tuition fees will depend on how many units you are enrolled in each semester. Check your course details to estimate what your fees will be.

Your offer letter will include:
· The indicative tuition fees for a standard full time study period

· An Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) quote.
Your financial capacity
You must have access to sufficient funds to cover the full cost of your stay in Australia for the duration of your studies. Full cost includes tuition fees, study costs and living expenses. We can help you to estimate your full study cost and the cost of living in Brisbane.

Health cover
You must organise and pay for your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) before you come to Australia.

Tuition fee increases
International tuition fees normally increase each year. Please read the international student fee and refund policy (PDF file, 65.71 KB) before you accept your offer.

English language pathway programs
If you are accepting a place in an English language program that is part of a pathway package, you will need to submit your acceptance payment. This includes:

· The English language program tuition fees
· $125 English language program registration fee

· $3,000 deposit on your degree program

· An optional $339 airport reception and accommodation placement fee.

Extra costs
Some courses have extra costs for things like field trips, equipment or practical training. See your course details for any additional costs.

Scholarships
You may be eligible for a scholarship to help you with your course fees and living costs.

Australian government scholarships
The Australian government provides scholarships to students from nominated countries as part of the Australia Awards. Undergraduate, postgraduate and research students are eligible for these scholarships.

The Australia Awards can help you develop skills to contribute to development and growth in your home country.

Home country scholarships

Many countries offer scholarships to their students to help them study overseas. We collaborate with some of these scholarship programs, including:

· China Scholarship Council Scholarship: a scholarship for Chinese students for postgraduate research in all study areas

· Becas Chile Scholarship: a scholarship for Chilean students to undertake postgraduate research in a wide range of study areas

· Science without Borders Scholarship: a comprehensive scholarship for Brazilian nationals wishing to study abroad in Australia for up to 1 year

· Malaysian Australian Alumni Council (MAAC) Scholarship: a high achievement scholarship for Malaysian nationals to undertake postgraduate research studies in all study areas.

Personal support

'Whenever you have a question or a problem, there's always a staff member to help you. You can even book one-on-one sessions with staff to help with assignments. There's a whole range of facilities to cater to students' needs.'

Mary Cunningham,

Graduate Diploma in Education

Language and learning services

We provide specialised education programs and individual support for academic writing and communication, and English language development.

If you need help learning to speak, write or interact more confidently, clearly and effectively, we hold workshops, small group sessions, one-on-one consultations, and writing groups.

Accommodation services

We can help you find your accommodation when you first arrive in Brisbane, and any time that you want to move. We can also help connect you with a homestay if you want to live with an Australian family.

Join our international community

Our International Student Services team organise short trips and weekend activities for international students, so you can see Australia and make friends with other international students.

Our East-West program promotes cultural diversity and intercultural communication on campus, with social activities, cultural events and group trips.

The QUT Guild runs student clubs and societies, as well as social sport, so you can meet and connect with like-minded students.

Advice and counselling

If you are having problems, we have a free, confidential counselling service for all our international students.

Employment support

You might choose to work part-time while studying to help balance your finances.

Our careers and employment service has information and workshops to help you find a job, write your resume, build job-searching skill and perform in interviews.

The QUT Guild advertises available jobs that are ideal for students.

Health services

We have free or discounted health services on campus for our students, including doctors, podiatrists and optometrists. Consultations might also be covered by your Overseas Student Health Cover.

Financial and legal help

We have support services to help you with transferring money, balancing your finances, and helping you with any money problems you are having.

We also have a legal support service if you ever have a legal problem while you are studying with us.

Religious support

Brisbane is a diverse community, with religious groups for a wide range of backgrounds. Some religious groups are represented on campus. Our chaplaincy service is available to students from all religions, and can help you get in contact with religious groups in the community.

Disability services

We support students with a disability, injury or health condition by providing the necessary services to help you manage study, travel around campus, and complete professional placements in your course.

Family support

If your family has come to Brisbane with you, they will also need support getting established in the community. We have international men's and women's groups that you and your partner can join to help your whole family settle in to living in Brisbane.
Orientation

Orientation is held a week or two before classes start, and is a great opportunity to meet your fellow students, get to know your support staff, and find your way around campus. Orientation week has a combination of information sessions and fun social activities, and is the perfect welcome to life at QUT.

You'll find out more about orientation once you have been offered a place at QUT.
